Please join us this Thursday, August 19 at 6pm for our first PTO meeting of the year and an open house. We hope to see you there!
We are excited to announce that after two years of research, and many meetings with Brockman staff, students and Richland One regarding our playgrounds, we have good news to report. The Brockman upper El playground is scheduled to get a major upgrade over summer. Important components of the plan include adding fencing, swings, shade and a gaga pit. The PTO will be responsible for paying for the surface that will cover the current track area and help keep it dry even after big storms. We are hopeful with a successful upcoming FUNd Run we will be able to work towards upgrading the other playgrounds as well in the near future.
Over the past 16 years, with the Support of our Brockman families, the Fine Arts Boosters have been able to offer fine arts programming throughout the curriculum. This school year we were able to offer Dance, Drama, and Visual Art. Also this year, in lieu of a FAB auction we are asking each family to consider donating $50 towards the Fine Arts programming. This is an optional fundraiser but the proceeds will benefit all students. Each donation will receive a tax donation letter. With your donations we will be able to continue to offer your children the arts at Brockman. Including, paying the salary for a dance and drama instructor, as well as the salary for a FAB arts coordinator.

Please remember to send in your Box Tops For Education, clipped from many of your favorite products. Every (unexpired) Box Top you send in gives Brockman one dime. Funds are sent twice a year to the school as a check. You can find Box Tops on popular kids’ foods like Annie’s, Larabar, and Cheerios, plus home-care supplies like Lysol, Kleenex, Hefty and Ziploc. Simply tear off the Box Tops, put them in an envelope or baggie, and have your child put them in the bright pink Box Tops collection box near the front door of the school. They don’t have to be trimmed or packaged in any way; they just need to get to us. We’d love to have over $1000 this school year, and we’ll need every Bear’s help to get there! If you have any questions or need the full list of products emailed to you, please feel free to contact Erin Baldwin at email@example.com. Thank you all for your Box Tops contributions to Brockman!
On Monday, April 22, the Columbia Marionette Theater presented the show “Litter Trashes Everyone” to our Brockman bears. The marionette people, animals, and even talking, dancing garbage and trashcans entertained and encouraged us to keep our environment clean!
During the next 3 days, many classes had a chance to go to the greenhouse to work with Mr. Jefferson, our science teacher, and a PTO volunteer to plant a seed or a small parsley or basil plant. Students will return to the greenhouse during the next 2 weeks to water their plants and watch them grow. We hope you will continue to nurture and enjoy the plant when your student brings it home! Thanks to the PTO for arranging the puppet show and sponsoring the plants!
