At the elementary level, career development education is all about promoting awareness of the world of work and exposing children to a wide variety of occupations. Each spring we schedule Career Presenters to come to Brockman and give a 30-45 presentation to our students about their profession. If you or someone you know might be interested in volunteering as a Career Presenter, please fill out this brief form found at the link below.
The NATURE NURTURERS CLUB has been Approved!
Attention all nature-lovers!!! Brockman’s newest after-school offering is in partnership with 4H. We will focus on everything wild while in the framework of the 4H tenets of head, heart, hands, and health. Get your hands dirty as we dig into projects and crafts based around STEM curriculum. Ages K-5th. Starting February 28, we will meet Thursdays this semester 2.30-4 pm in the Greenhouse and outside, weather permitting. Cost is free. Be on the lookout for a permission form coming home! Curious about the Richland One Montessori Middle School? Please join us for one of our Donuts & Drop-in events. During these events, parents may observe students and teachers in the middle school environment and ask questions about the program. Light refreshments will be provided.

Great job, everyone! Thanks to all the Box Tops you turned in, our school received a check from Box Tops For Education™ for $258.10. Our goal for the year is $1,000, and we’ve just submitted another $86.10 over the holiday break. You’re doing an amazing job of sending in your Box Tops to the bright pink box at school; we’ve even received a few envelopes sent by friends and family members directly to Brockman! If you’re willing to participate, there’s also a bonus app for your cell phone or tablet, available at www.btfe.com/bonusapp.

The Arts Steering Committee is seeking someone for the newly created position of Brockman Arts Coordinator. Some responsibilities of this job include: plan, promote and coordinate afterschool arts classes; organize in-school arts experiences in dance, drama and creative writing; and assist with school wide performances. This is a part time, paid position of the Fine Arts Booster (FAB) that requires some daytime availability and the ability to work independently. No fine arts background is needed but experience in education, human resources, accounting, or law could be helpful. A more detailed job description is available here. A huge thank you to parents, teachers, staff and students for making the 5th annual FUNd Run a HUGE success! We sure know how to “Dream Big!” at Brockman no matter the weather – and the students rocked a memorable (and muddy!) FUNd Run to raise money for new playground equipment!

Extra FUNd Run t-shirts are also available for sale with sizes ranging from small to 2xtra-large. If you would like to purchase a t-shirt, please send $5 in an envelope marked for the PTO mailbox, with your name, email, shirt-size and the name of your child’s teacher. (Checks can be made payable to Brockman PTO).
Finally, THANK YOU to those Brockman Bears who volunteered their time, talent and resources to putting on the FUNd Run! While other schools rely on third-party vendors, our fundraiser is put on entirely by parents, teachers and staff and 100% of the proceeds go back to our school community. From Yoga Day to Smoothie Day to Hula Hoop Day to the big event, no small detail was left untended. On Friday (the day of the FUNd Run), your child will receive a FUNd Run t-shirt to wear for the run. Students are also asked to bring a water bottle from home.
Parents are also cordially invited to join the fun! Bypass the main office and come directly to the upper field. FUNd Run shirts for spectators will be also available for sale for $5 on the upper field with proceeds going back to the school. Remember to bring your own chair if you plan to stay and watch!
